Nice Côte d'Azur decarbonize ground handling operations
As part of its “CEF – Transport – Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility" (AFIF) call for projects, the European Commission announces that it has selected a new project financed with the Banque des Territoires (Caisse des Dépôts Group). The Nice Côte d'Azur airport project to electrify airport ground handling operations is among 26 projects selected by the European Commission in its fourth round of the call for projects. In this context, the European Union will allocate approximately €4.1m of grants to the project which the Caisse des Dépôts will finance via the Banque des Territoires with quasi-equity of €4.6 million.

Cannes-Mandelieu and Golfe de Saint-Tropez airports are abandoning diesel and reducing their emissions by more than 50 tonnes of CO2 per year
The two airports have announced that their internal combustion vehicles that cannot be converted to fully electric engines will now be fuelled with biodiesel, which will result in reducing CO2 emissions by 80% over their entire life cycle.

Summer traffic equals that of 2019 but with fewer planes
Passenger traffic in July and August 2023 reached 99.9% of 2019 levels for the same months, but with fewer aircraft movements. These results are partly down to the success of long-haul routes, the growing share of regional connections in France - for which other modes of transport remain problematic -, and a higher passenger load factor.
